Social Inclusion: Building a Barrier-Free Society in Belgium
This is the foundation of our action. At Cœur Historique, we make sure that age, material hardship or situations of vulnerability never become factors of isolation. Our vision of mutual aid translates into a concrete presence: enabling every person to find their place and take an active part in community life.
Every day, we see the impact of sometimes invisible everyday obstacles, whether it means forgoing medical care for lack of mobility or being forced into withdrawal. To break this loneliness, our priority is to make travel and access to essential rights simpler, notably through the support provided by our social taxi service in Liège.
Social Innovation: Modern Tools in the Service of Volunteering
Our organisation constantly seeks to renew traditional methods of mutual aid. We believe that the non-profit sector must embrace today's logistical and communication resources to increase the reach and effectiveness of action on the ground.
We join forces with local partners to develop a network of solidarity-based exchange. By optimising the management of our re-use projects and drawing on equipment-sharing networks, we secure new human and material resources. Our goal remains unchanged: to ensure that every resource we gain directly benefits the people we support across Liège province.
Conviviality: Bringing Citizens Together to Fight Loneliness
Isolation hits young adults and seniors alike, right at the heart of our neighbourhoods. At Cœur Historique, we believe that access to meals and shelter must go hand in hand with genuine moments of sharing. The involvement of local residents is the essential driving force behind this community project.
Beyond logistical support, we take care of the human connection. Our neighbourhood gatherings and shared meals are organised to recreate a warm atmosphere. These are moments conducive to listening, regardless of background, where everyone is welcomed simply and warmly into our community.
Knowledge-Sharing: Helping Each Other Build Everyone's Self-Reliance
Our aim is not to establish passive assistance, but to encourage dynamics of personal empowerment. The non-profit's action goes beyond the immediate emergency: we pass on the keys that allow everyone to build their own path with confidence.
We gladly share our practical know-how, our skills through learning workshops and our tools to open up new prospects for those who need them. It is in this spirit that we support students facing material hardship, back pathways to professional reintegration, and make our experience available to other small associations across Wallonia.
